I’m Robin Halford, a self-taught artist from Aotearoa New Zealand, currently studying towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Whitecliffe College

My art focuses primarily on a personal exploration of the space between the grotesque and the beautiful. I’m inspired by both fear and curiosity, using different mediums and approaches to experiment with how far these two feelings can merge — and what happens when they do.

I’m a heavy mixed-media user, as I can never settle on just one art form, though I tend to lean toward ink more than anything else. My aspiration for the future is to eventually move into tattooing, where I can experiment with the ultimate medium: skin.
